In a proactive measure, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) has canceled all leaves for its personnel in anticipation of Diwali, ensuring they are available around the clock. This decision was communicated by officials on Monday.
A senior DFS official revealed that a comprehensive strategy has been developed to address any fire-related emergencies during the festive season. He stated, "All our fire stations and Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been instructed to remain on high alert. Each team has been directed to respond to emergency calls without delay."
Deployment of Quick Response Teams
The official further mentioned that over 100 QRTs will be deployed across various locations in Delhi. Last year, the DFS control room received more than 200 emergency reports related to fires, many of which were caused by fireworks, short circuits, and the use of lamps and candles.
Another official added, "Every vehicle has been thoroughly inspected and is in operational condition. Our goal is to ensure that all calls are responded to promptly."
Trained Teams Ready for Action
The official emphasized that the team has been trained to act swiftly and effectively. The DFS is fully prepared to handle any potential incidents. Additional personnel have been deployed in high-risk areas such as Sadar Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Bhagirath Palace, and various industrial zones.
